78-08A & 78-09A ...~~- e CITY OF CHANHASSEN CARVER AND HENNEPIN COUNTIES, MINNESOTA ., Date: February 6, 1978 Motion by Councilman Neveaux Resolution No. 78-08A & 78-09A Seconded by Councilman Gev~ng LEVY LIMITATION ELECTION BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Chanhassen, Minnesota, as follows: 1. It is hereby determined to submit to the voters of this City the following questions at a special election: QUESTION NO. 1 Shall the City of Chanhassen be authorized to exceed its overall levy limitation as authorized by Minnesota Statutes S275.58, by an amount not to exceed $24.20 per capita for the real estate taxes payable in 1979 and e by an amount not to exceed $18.00 per capita for the real estate taxes payable in 1980 and in all subsequent years? The purpose of this tax levy shall be to finance the cost of establishing and operating a City of Chanhassen police department including the costs of equipment and personnel. QUESTION NO. 2 IN THE EVENT A MAJORITY OF THE VOTES CAST ON QUESTION NO. 1 IS NEGATIVE: Shall the City of Chanhassen be authorized to exceed its overall levy limitation, as authorized by Minnesota Statutes S278.58, by an amount not to exceed $14.00 per capita for real estate taxes payable in 1979 and in all subsequent years? The purpose of this tax levy shall be to finance the increased cost of purchasing police services on a contract basis from Carver County.o 2. Said special election shall be held on March 7 , 1978. The vote shall be held at the usual polling places for each precinct as follows: e Precinct 1: Precinct 2: Precinct 3: Precinct 4: Henn. Co. Precinct: Chanhassen Elementary School Minnetonka West Jr. High School Chanhassen American Legion Post #580 Chanhassen Elementary School Chanhassen Elementary School. e e e 3. The polls shall be opened at 7:00 o'clock A.M. and shall close at 8:00 o'c1ock P.M. 4. The City Clerk shall give notice of election as required by law by twq weeks' publication in theofficia1 newspaper and by posting in three public and conspicuous places in the City at least ten days prior to the election. 5. The persons listed on Exhibit A attached hereto and mad~ a part hereof are appointed judges for the special election. 6. The City Clerk shall cause printed ballots to be prepared in substantially the form which is attached hereto and made a part hereof as Exhibit B. 7. The City Council shall meet at the City Hall on March 8 1978, at 6:30 o'clock P.M. to canvass the returns and declare the result of the election.
