RESOLUTION NO:
79- 6 2
MOTION BY COUNCILMAN: Matthews
SECONDED BY COUNCILMAN: Geving
A RESOLUTION APPROVING A CONTRACT AMENDMENT FOR THE NORTH LAKE SUSAN
PUBLIC IMPRO~EMENT PROJECT 78-3
BE IT RESOLVED By the City Council of the City of Chanhassen,
Minnesota, as follows:
1. That the contract with Brown and Cris and Enebak Construction
Companie, a joint venture, be amended to add the following:
e
a. The alignment of Park Drive and Park Court has been
changed due to MnDOT requirements for access to
Minnesota Trunk Highway 5. The realignment of these
two streets changes the configuration of the drainage
areas increasing the runoff down Park Drive into Pond
1. This requires an increase in storm sewer size and
pond size, and also decreases storm sewer, sanitary
sewer, watermain, earthwork, and street paving
quantities.
The MnDOT requirements also call for tUDn lanes and
by-pass lanes at the intersection of Highway 5 and
Park Drive. The Contractor has quoted a lump sum price
of $22,138.00 for this work.
b. The timing of this project was such that the Ri1ey-
Purgatory Creek Watershed Distriet review and the bidding
process occurred concurrently. Changes made by the
Watershed District are thus included in this amendment.
The items included are increase in the size of the
centerline culvert and the diversion of Riley Creek
at the box culvert.
c. There has been additional storm sewer added to the
project on the west end of Park Road. This accommodates
drainage in a swa1e formed by a change in grade to
match the new proposed grade on County Road 17.
e
d. It is expected that there will be an increase in Class
5 modified aggregate base. This increase is expected
because of the wet soil conditions existing on the site
from the excessive rainfall received this year. The cost
of the additional material will be at the contract unit
price.
e
e
e
e. The size of the sanitary sewer as bid to extend for
future service to the Highpath Farms area has been
increased from 10 inches to 15 inches. This is due
to more specific information from Mr. Dunn on future
possible density of the area. The size increase
is between Minnesota Highway 25 and 14.
2. The total change due to this amendment is $62,559.63,
which increases the original contract amount of $1,188,862.40 by
5.3%.
Passed and adopted by the City Council of the City of Chanhassen
this 15th day of October, 1979.
