RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING ACQUISITION OF
MINNEWASHTA FIRE STATION SITE
Recitals
1. It has been determined by the Council of the City of
Chanhassen that there is an urgent need to establish a fire station
in the Lake Minnewashta area to afford better fire protection to the
residents of that section of the community.
2. The voters of the City have by referendum authorized the
issuance of general obligation bonds for the erection of said
station and the acquisition of land therefor.
3. The Council has determined that a one and one-half acre
site at the southwest corner of State Highway 5 and Carver County
Road 15 is the most suitable site for the location of said station.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED:
1. The City Council hereby determines that it is necessary
to acquire fee simple title to a one and one-half acre site, known
as the Clayton Miller property, at the intersection of State Highway 5,
for purposes of erecting a fire station thereon.
2. That such acquisition is in the public interest and for
public purposes as authorized by Minnesota law.
3. That the City staff is hereby authorized and directed to
proceed with the acquisition of said property by negotiation with the
owner thereof, or, if need be, by the exercise of the power of the
City to acquire said property by eminent domain proceedings.
