80-40 CITY OF CHANHASSEN CARVER AND HENNEPIN COUNTIES, MINNESOTA e Date: October 6, 1980 Motion by Councilman Neveaux Resolution No. 80-40 Seconded by Councilman ~P-V; ng LEVY LIMITATION ELECTION BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Chanhassen, Minnesota as follows: 1. It is hereby determined to submit to the voters of this City the following question(s} at the November 4, 1980 General Election: Question No. 1 Shall the City of Chanhassen be authorized to exceed its overall levy limitation as authorized by Minnesota Statutes S275.58, e by an amount not to exceed $ 14.00 per capita for the real estate taxes payable in 1982 and in all subseqUent years? The purpose of this tax levy shall be to finance the cost of establishing and operating a City of Chanhassen Police Department including the costs of equipment and personnel. Question No. 2 IN THE EVENT A MAJORITY OF THE VOTES CAST ON QUESTION NO. 1 IS NEGATIVE: Shall the City of Chanhassen be authorized to exceed its overall levy limitation, as authorized by Minnesota Statutes S278.58, by an amount not to exceed $ 14.00 per capita for real estate taxes payable in 1982 and in all SUbsequent years? The purpose of this tax levy shall be to finance the increased cost of purchasing the current level of police services on a contract basis from Carver County. 2. The vote shall be held at the same polling places, during the same hours, utilizing the same jlUdges and the returns shall be canvassed at the same time and place as for the November 4, 1980 General Election. 3. The City Clerk shall give notice of election as required by law by two weeks publication in the official newspaper and by posting in three public and conspicuous places in the City at least ten days prior to election. e e e e 4. The City Clerk shall cause printed ballots to be prepared in substantially the form which is attached and made a part hereof as Exhibit A.
