" FROM: Karen Engelhardt, Office Manager DATE: May 7, 2007 SUBJ: Request for On-Sale 3.2 Beer License, Halla Greens Golf Course, 495 Pioneer Trail This office has received a request for an on-sale 3.2 beer license from Halla Greens Golf Course, 495 Pioneer Trail. Halla Greens is a 9-hole executive golf course with a driving range. This property is zoned A-2 and a 3.2 beer license is allowed in this district. The applicant intends to sell beer in the club house that may be consumed inside the building in the restaurant/counter area, a porch, a patio area on the south side of the club house, and on the golf course and driving range. There is seating for 32 in the restaurant, 6 at the counter, 16 on the porch, and another 32-40 on the patio. Food is being provided by Sysco Minnesota and includes hot dogs, brats, hamburgers, ice cream, cookies, muffins, pizza, candy, chips, and popcorn. All food is pre-made and pre-cooked and will be heated on site. Law Enforcement has conducted a background investigation, including criminal history, driving records, outstanding warrants on Don Halla, owner/applicant and Eric Olson, operating manager. The City Attorney has reviewed the results of this investigation and did not find any issues that would prohibit issuance of this license. A public hearing notice was published in the Chanhassen Villager and sent to all property owners within 500 feet of the site (see attached list). As of the date of this writing, staff has not received any comments from the public. RECOMMENDA TION Staff recommends that the City Council approve the request for an on-sale 3.2 beer license for Halla Greens Golf Course, contingent upon receipt of the license fee and liquor liability insurance that meets minimum state requirements.
