All bids were submitted with a proper bid guarantee in the amount of 5% of the bid.
GMH Asphalt Corporation was the low bidder with a total bid amount of $428,356.75. The bid was
substantially lower then the estimate in the feasibility study. The feasibility study anticipated a significant
spike in oil and fuel prices from 2006. Also, contractors showed a lot of interest in this project and bids
were very competitive.
GMH Asphalt Corporation was the contractor for City Project 05-01, Lake Lucy Road and City Project
07-01, Chanhassen Hills Street Rehabilitation and Lake Ann Parking Lot Improvement Project. GMH
Asphalt Corporation work has been satisfactory . Award of the contract is recommended to GMH Asphalt
Corporation.
Funding for this project is proposed through a combination of special assessments to the benefiting
properties, revolving assessment funds, storm sewer utility funds, and sanitary sewer utility funds. The
construction contract amount is for $428,356.75. The total project cost including engineering, soil
borings, legal costs etc. is $546,908.37. Funding for the total project cost (including all indirect costs) is
proposed as follows:
