WS 2002 04 08CHANHASSEN CITY COUNCIL
WORK SESSION
APRIL 8, 2002
Mayor Jansen called the work session meeting to order at S:00 p.m.
COUNCIL MEMBERS PRESENT: Mayor Jansen, Councilman Labatt, Councilman Ayotte,
Councilman Boyle and Councilman Peterson
STAFF PRESENT: Todd Gerhardt and Teresa Burgess
UPDATE ON HIGHWAY 101 TURNBACK.
Council discussed 2 lane versus 3 lane. Councilman Ayotte expressed his frustration with the efforts of
MnDot and Hennepin County to maintain the road and on the insistence of a 4 lane project. Mayor Jansen
and Councilman Labatt expressed concern about cost impact to the city of a trail along versus a trail with a
road project, and the opportunity to influence the design of the road. Councilman Peterson expressed he's
still not sure the road would need to be 4 lane in the future. Council stated they would like to re-visit the
issue at a future work session. Councilman Boyle requested information on the potential impacts of a 3
lane footprint for consideration at that meeting so he can make an informed decision.
The City Council adjourned the work session portion of the meeting and conducted interviews of applicants
for the Planning Commission and Park and Recreation Commission.
