ORDINANCE NO. 734
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 10 OF
THE CHANHASSEN CITY CODE RELATING
TO REGULATION OF LAWFUL GAMBLING
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHANHASSEN, MINNESOTA, ORDAINS:
SECTION 1. Section 10-162 of the Chanhassen City Code – Contribution of Net Profits to
Fund Administered by City is hereby amended to read as follows:
Section 10-162 Contribution of Net Profits to Fund Administered by City
(a) Each organization licensed to conduct lawful gambling within the city pursuant to Minn. Stat. §
349.16, as it may be amended from time to time, shall contribute ten percent (10%) of its net
profits derived from lawful gambling in the city to a fund administered and regulated by the
city without cost to the fund. The city shall disburse the funds for charitable contributions as
defined by Minn. Stat. § 349.12 Subd. 7a, as it may be amended from time to time.
(b) Payment under this section shall be made monthly, due within fifteen days of the end of each
month.
(c) If the organization has a net loss in any given month, that net loss may be subtracted from the
next month(s) which has/have a net profit for purposes of computing the ten percent (10%)
contribution to the city.
(d) The city’s use of such funds shall be determined at the time of adoption of the city’s annual
budget or when the budget is amended.
(e) An organization that conducts gambling of fewer than five days in a calendar year is exempt
from the requirements of this section.
SECTION 2. This ordinance shall be effective immediately upon its passage and publication.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 23rd day of September 2024 by the City Council of the City of
Chanhassen, Minnesota.
