SUBJ: Authorize Emergency Sprinkling and Irrigation Ban REQUESTED ACTION Staff is requesting the City Council authorize an Emergency Sprinkling and Irrigation Ban. DISCUSSION Due to the on-going drought, two wells in the City have failed in the last week and one of the aquifers the city uses has dropped to very low, critical levels. The City cannot support the current usage and must require all business and residential users to stop sprinkling and irrigating immediately. Once staff has determined the system can support watering again, staff will recommend the ban be lifted. RECOMMENDATION City Council authorize an Emergency Sprinkling and Irrigation Ban. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Chanhassen City Council, hereby effective immediately, approves a total sprinkling ban until conditions improve.
