Pursuant to this policy, all out-of-state travel by City elected officials must be approved by the City Council. The out-of-state travel requested for consideration is for attendance by Mayor Tom Furlong to a Community Forum in Madison, Mississippi. Communities named as "Best Places to Raise a Family" by Family Circle in 2007 will convene November 7-9,2007. This trip meets the following criteria established by the City's travel policy: . The elected official will be meeting and networking with other elected officials from around the country to exchange ideas on topics of relevance to the City or on the official roles of local elected officials. The majority of the cost (flight & hotel) of this trip is being borne by the sponsoring city, Madison, Mississippi. The City will be responsible for meals. The city has sufficient funding available in the budget to pay the cost of the trip. RECOMMENDA TION Staff recommends approval of this request. Approval of this item requires a majority of Council approval.
