ORDINANCE NO. 3-J
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 11.01 OF ORDINANCE 3-H WHICH
REGULATES THE USE OF STREETS AND HIGHWAYS WITHIN THE CITY OF
CHANHASSEN, INCORPORATING PROVISIONS OF THE STATE HIGHWAY TRAFFIC
REGULATION ACT BY REFERENCE, AND IMPOSING A PENALTY FOR THE
VIOLATION THEREOF.
• THE CITY COUNCIL OF CHANHASSEN ORDAINS:
SECTION 1. Section 11.01 of Ordinance 3-H adopted by the City
Council on August 1, 1977 is hereby amended to read as follows:
11.01. ESTABLISHMENT OF FIRE LANES:
A. Orders Establishing Fire Lanes: The Fire
Department is hereby authorized to recommend to the City Council
the establishment of fire lanes on public or private property as
may be necessary in order that the travel of fire equipment may
not be interfered with, and that access to fire hydrants or
buildings may not be obstructed.
B. Signs and Markings of Fire Lanes: When a fire lane
has been ordered to be established pursuant to this Section it
shall be marked by a sign bearing the words "No Parking - Fire
Lane - by Order of Fire Department" or striped in a manner to
indicate no parking. When the fire lane is on public property or
a public right of way, the sign or signs shall be erected by the
City, and when on private property they shall be erected by owner
at his own expense within thirty (30) days after he has been
notified of the order.
C. Parking or Otherwise Obstructing Prohibited: After
a sign or signs have been erected in accordance with subdivision
B of this Section, no person shall park a vehicle or otherwise
occupy or obstruct the fire lane.

E. Protection of Fire Hoses: No person shall drive
any vehicle over a fire hose except upon specific orders from a
member of the Fire Department of this Municipality, and then only
with due caution.

any vehicle or place any material or other obstruction within ten
(10) feet of any fire hydrant or fire reservoir, nor shall any
person enter any block or park any vehicle within three hundred
(300) feet of a place where a fire is in progress which requires
equipment from the Fire Department to be present.

SECTION 2. EFFECTIVE DATE.
This Ordinance becomes effective from and after its passage
and publication.

On .July 23, 1984, the Chanhassen Cit} Council
adopted an ordinance amending; Section 11.01 of Or-
dinance 3-11 entitled "Fire Lanes." This sunimarN v,
beim published in lieu of publication of the entire or-
dinance. A printed copy of the ordinance is available
for inspection by any person during regular office
hours at the office of the Cite Clerk at Chanhassen 0-
t% Hall, 690 Coulter Drive, Chanhassen, Minnesota.
This ordinance allows for adoption of traffic
regulations of fire lanes and other emergency traffic
situations not already addressed in the Uniform Fire
Code, which will provide for the safety of emergenc%
personnel and efficient operation.
The penalty section of the ordinance provides that
violations are a misdeameanor and subject to a
penalty up to $700 and/or 90 days in jail. The or-
dinance is in full force upon its passage and publica-
tion of this sununarv.

and near Chaska and has at least 500 copies regularly delivered to paying subscribers and has entry as second-class mat-
ter at the Chaska Post Office. (5) Said newspaper has its known office of issue established in Carver County in which lies
the City of Chaska. (6) Said newspaper files a copy of each issue immediately with the State Historical Society. (7) Said
newspaper is available at single or subscription prices to any person, corporation, partnership or other incorporated
association requesting the newspaper and making applicable payment. (8) Said newspaper has complied with all the
foregoing conditions of this subdivision for at least one year last past. (9) Said newspaper has filed with the Secretary of
State of Minnesota prior to January 1, 1976 and each January 1 thereafter an affidavit in the form prescribed by the
Secretary of State and signed by the managing officer of said newspaper and sworn to before a notary public stating that
the newspaper is a legal newspaper.
