ORDINANCE NO. 7-A
AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING THE BIENNIAL ELECTION SYSTEM.
• THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHANHASSEN ORDAINS:
SECTION 1. Date of Regular City Election.
•
Pursuant to Laws 1973, Chapter 123, Article II, Section 3, (M. S.A. 412.023) ,
commencing with the 1974 City election, the regular City election of Chanhassen shall
be held biennially on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November of every
even -numbered year.
SECTION 2. Terms of Mayor and Councilmen.
Commencing with the first regular biennial election, the term for the office of
mayor shall be two years, and the terms for the offices of councilmen shall be four years.
SECTION 3. Terms of Incumbent Elective Officers.
The terms of incumbent elective officers expiring in January, following a year in
which there is no City election, shall be extended until the date for taking office follow-
ing the next scheduled City election.
SECTION 4. Repeal.
Ordinance No. 7 entitled, "An Ordinance Establishing Date of Regular Village
Election" , adopted August 28, 1967, is hereby repealed.
SECTION 5. Effective Date.
This ordinance becomes effective from and after its passage and publication.
Adopted by the Council this 18th day of February, 1974.

(240) copies regularly delivered to paying subscribers and has entry as second class
matter in its local post office; and that there has been on file in the office of the
