ORDINANCE NO. 24-D
AN ORDINANCE LICENSING AND REGULATING DOGS
AND CATS, PROVIDING FOR IMPOUNDING OF DOGS
AND-CATS,,AND-PRESCRIBING A PENALTY FOR
VIOLATIONS.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF CHANHASSEN ORDAINS:
SECTION 1. Section 1 of Ordinance 24-C entitled "An
Ordinance Licensing and Regulating Dogs and Cats, Providing
for Impounding of Dogs and Cats, and Prescribing a Penalty
For Violation", adopted July 12, 1976, is hereby amended by
adding the following definition to the definitions set forth
in said section:

5. Impoundment - means in the physical custody
of the police or any animal control officer
of the City, including, without limitation,
confinement in the City Pound or in the animal
control officer's vehicle."
SECTION 2. Sections 7 and 29 of the above described Ordinance
-C are Herebv amended to read as follows:
"Section 7. Redemption. Any animal may be redeemed from
impoundment by the owner, within the time stated in the notice of
impounding, upon payment of the license fee, if unpaid, the
impounding fees, and all other costs and charges incurred by the
City for impounding and maintenance of said animal. The
impounding fees shall be as follows:
a) If the animal has not been impounded within one
year prior to the date of its most recent
impoundment, the basic impounding fee shall be
$20.00 , plus a per diem impounding
fee of 5.00 , for each day or part
of a day which the animal is impounded.
b) If the animal has been impounded once within the
year prior to the date of its most recent
impoundment, the basic impounding fee shall be
$40.00 , plus a per diem fee of
$5.00 , for each day, or part of a day,
which the animal is impounded.
c) If the animal has been impounded twice or more
within the year prior to the date of its most recent
impoundment, the basic impounding fee shall be
$80.00 , plus a per diem of $5.00
for each day, or part of a day, which the animal is
impounded.
The license fee shall be as set forth in Section 2 of the
Ordinance plus a late fee of $2.00 per licence.
"Section 29. Penalty. Any person, firm or corporation
violating any provision of this ordinance shall upon conviction
thereof, be guilty of a misdemeanor and shall be punished by
a fine of not more than $500.00, or imprisonment in the County
Jail for not more than 90 days.
SECTION 3. EFFECTIVE DATE. This ordinance shall become
effective from and after its passage and publication.

post -office. (5) Said newspaper purports to serve the City of Chaska in the County of Carver and it has its known
office of issue in the City of Chaska in said county, established and open during its regular business hours for the
gathering of news, sale of advertisements and sale of subscriptions and maintained by the managing officer of said
newspaper, persons in its employ and subject to his direction and control during all such regular business hours and at
which said newspaper is printed. (6) Said newspaper files a copy of each issue immediately with the State Historical
Society. (7) Said newspaper has complied with all the foregoing conditions for at least one year preceding the day or dates
of publication mentioned below. (8) Said newspaper has filed with the Secretary of State of Minnesota prior to January 1,
1966 and each January 1 thereafter an affidavit in the form prescribedd by the Secretary of State and signed by the
managing officer of said newspaper and sworn to before a notary ublic stating that the newspaper is a legal newspaper.
