AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 7, ARTICLE II OF THE
CHANHASSEN CITY CODE CONCERNING THE UNIFORM BUILDING CODE
The Chanhassen City Council ordains:
Section 1. Chapter 7, Article II of the Chanhassen City
Code is amended by adding to (5) of Section 7-16(d) the
following: U.B.C. Appendix E.
Section 2. This ordinance shall become effective
immediately upon its passage and publication.
Adopted by the Chanhassen City Council this 5th day of
October , 1987.

2 VICAR § 1.10020 Optional provisions for installation of on -premises fire suppression systems.
A. Purpose. This nale authorizes optional provisions liar the installation of on -premise% fire suppression system, in new
construction. It is intended to aileviate increasing demands liar additional fire suppression resources by alitm ing a municipality
to adopt the optional provisions of this rule haled on its local fire suppression capahilities.
It. Municipal option. The sprinkler system requirements in C. may he adopted without change by a municipality. If they are
adopted. the requirements are applicable throughout the municipalk% For new huiitlings. adtIitions to huildings. and huilding% for

C. Requirements. Automatic sprinkler systems must he installed and maintained in operable condition in buildings in the
accup:utc� classifications listed in L -I:. 1'his requirement is in addition to other minimum requirements set in the state building
c0dc. The height and area increases provided 4w in sections 506 and 507 of the Uniform Building Code. as adopted in the state

10. Group H-4 occupancies with 30)0 or more gross sq. ft. of arca.
11. Group R -I apartment houses with 8.51X) or more gross sq. It. of arra or with dwelling units on three or more flours.
