• ORDINANCE NO. 90
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE SECTION 20 OF THE CHANHASSSEN CITY CODE
CONCERNING VARIOUS ZONING ORDINANCE REGULATIONS
The City Council of Chanhassen ordains:
Section 1. Section 20-615 Lot Requirements and Setbacks is
amended as follows:
(3) The minimum lot depth is one hundred twenty-five (125)
feet.
Section 2. Section 20-635 Lot Requirements and Setbacks is
amended as follows:
(3) The minimum lot depth is one hundred twenty-five (125)
feet.
Section 3. Section 20-1018 Commercial and Industrial Fences
is amended by adding the following sentence:
Fences utilizing barbed wire in all commercial and industrial
districts shall require a conditional use permit.
• Section 4. Section 20-1024 Barbed Wire Fences is hereby
added as follows:

Section 20-1024 Barbed Wire Fences. Barbed wire fences are
prohibited in all residential districts. Barbed wire fences are
permitted in the agricultural districts.
Section 5. Section 20-903 is hereby repealed.
Section 6. Section 20-1277 Cemetery Signage is hereby added
as follows:
Section 20-1277 Cemetery Signage. Signage for a cemetery
shall be processed as a conditional use permit in all districts.
Section 7. Reserved.
Section 8. Section 20-915 is amended as follows:
Section 20-915 Antennas, Satellite Dishes and Amateur Radio
Towers.
1. Satellite dishes, television antennas, and ground mounted
vertical antennas shall be permitted accessory uses
within all zoning districts.
2. Amateur radio towers shall receive a conditional use per-
mit in all districts prior to installation.
3. In all residential districts, only one of the following
are permitted per lot:
a) Satellite Dish
b) Amateur radio tower
c) Ground mounted vertical antenna
4. A ground mounted satellite dish shall not exceed fifteen
(15) feet in height above ground level.
5. No ground mounted satellite dish, amateur radio tower, or
ground mounted vertical antenna shall be located within
the required front yard setback or side yard setback.
6. Ground mounted satellite dishes, amateur radio towers,
and ground mounted vertical antennas shall be setback from
all adjoining lots a distance equivalent to the height of
the dish, tower or antenna. If a portion of the tower or
antenna is collapsible or securely fastened to a
building, only the portion which can fall will be used to
determine the setback from property lines. Location
shall not adversely obstruct views from adjacent property.
7. A building permit shall be required for the installation
of any satellite dish, amateur radio tower, or ground
• mounted vertical antenna. Building permit applications
shall require the submission of a site plan and struc-
tural components. When a satellite dish or radio antenna
is located on the roof of a building, the applicant shall
furnish the City Building Official with building plans
and structural components displaying the means of
securing it to the building. The Building Official must
approve the building plans before installation.
8. Each satellite dish, amateur radio tower, and ground mounted
vertical antenna shall be grounded to protect against
natural lightning strikes in conformance with the National
Electrical Code as adopted and amended by the city.
9. Satellite dish, amateur radio tower, and ground mounted ver-
tical antenna, electrical equipment and connections shall be
designed and installed in adherence to the National
Electrical Code as adopted and amended by the city.
Section 9. This ordinance shall be come effective immediately
upon its passage and publication.
Adopted by the City Council of Chanhassen this 14th day of
