AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 10
OF THE CHANHASSEN CITY CODE
CONCERNING THE SALE AND DISPLAY OF
LAWN FERTILIZERS
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHANHASSEN ORDAINS:
SECTION 1. Chapter 10 of the Chanhassen City Code is amended by adding
Article VII to provide as follows:
ARTICLE VII. SALE AND DISPLAY OF LAWN FERTILIZERS
Sec. 10-200. Sale and display of lawn fertilizer.
No person, firm, corporation, franchise, or commercial establishment shall sell or display
for sale any lawn fertilizer, liquid or granular, within the City of Chanhassen that
• contains any amount of phosphorus or other compound containing phosphorus, such as
phosphate, unless:
(1) Phosphorus -free fertilizer is also available for sale.
(2) Phosphorus -free fertilizer and fertilizer with phosphorus are separately
displayed with each display being clearly marked as to whether or not the
fertilizer contains phosphorus.
(3) Displays of phosphorus -free fertilizer are of equal or greater size and
prominence.
SECTION 2. This ordinance shall be effective immediately upon its passage and
publication.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 22" d day of July, 2002, by the City Council of the
City of Chanhassen, Minnesota.
