84-14 CITY OF CHANHASSEN CARVER AND HENNEPIN COUNTIES, MINNESOTA - RESOLUTION DATE: March 5, 1984 RESOLUTION NO: 84-14 MOTION BY COUNCILMAN: Geving SECONDED BY COUNCILMAN: Horn A RESOLUTION REQUESTING AND SUPPORTING THE SHORELAND MANAGEMENT PROGRAM RECLASSIFICATION FOR LOTUS LAKE FROM GENERAL DEVELOPMENT WATERS TO RECREATIONAL DEVELOPMENT WATERS WHEREAS, The City finds that Lotus Lake will benefit from reclassification by providing for lower development density, increased shoreland setbacks and reduction of surface area eli- gible for chemical treatment for removal of aquatic vegetation; WHEREAS, The City has resurveyed the characteristics of Lotus Lake in the context of the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources Classification Criteria for the Shoreland Management Program and find that the conditions present indicate that Lotus Lake is equally or more characteristic of the more restrictive classification of recreational development waters having: - 1. A development density of 29.5. 2. A crowding potential of 73.8. 3. Not having experienced winter kill. 4. Having a maximum depth of 29 feet with an average depth of 17 feet. 5. Having sand or loam soil, deciduous and coniferous vegetation with moderate to steep slopes. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Chanhassen City Council hereby requests that the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources reclassify Lotus Lake from General Development Waters to Recreational Development Waters in accordance with Minnesota Regulations NR82F(4}.
