85-29 CI'IY OF aIANHASSEN CARVER AND HENNEPIN cnUNTIES, MINNFSorA e DATE: June 17, 1985 RESOLurlOO NO: 85 - 29 MYl'IOO BY: Geving SE<XNDED BY: SWenson TRUNK HIGlMAY 7 cnRRlOOR STUDY WHEREAS, a recent proposal to revise the intersection of Vine Hill Road and Hwy. 7 concerns the affected oorrmunities adjacent to Hwy. 7; and, WHEREAS, a recent proposal to provide additional access to Hwy. 7 fran a new oollector street oonflicts with the Metropolitan Council's functional criteria for major arterials; and, WHEREAS, a recent proposal to close the median crossing Q1 Hwy. 7 at Galpin Lake Road ooncerns affected a::rrmunities; and, WHEREAS, the lMy. 7 oorridor has a mix of different access points, design problems, high traffic volurres and accident rates, and lacks north-south oon- tinuity; and, WHEREAS, all the cx:mnunities adjacent to lMy. 7, as well as the Minnesota Department of Transportation and the Metropolitan Council, recognize the need to improve the operation of Hwy. 7 as a regional roadway while accarrrodating the growth planned by the ccmnunities within the lMy. 7 oorridor; e NOO, THEREFORE, BE rr RESOLVED, that the city of Chanhassen, requests the Metropoli tan Council to act as lead agency in docurrenting needs and issues and preparing a study design defining study alternates and study oosts for a corri- dor study for Hwy. 7 between Hwy. 101 in Minnetonka and the western oorder of the city of Chanhassen; and, BE rr FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City of Chanhassen, will review the Metropoli tan Council's study and assist in a fashion deemed fair and appropriate to fund, jointly staff or otherwise support the selected oorridor study alter- nate.
