RESOLUTION TO FUND HIGHWAY 7 CORRIDOR STUDY
WHEREAS, Highway 7 between Highway 101 in Minnetonka and the
western border of Chanhassen has a mix of different access
points, design problems, high traffic volumes and accident rates,
and lacks north-south continuity within its travelshed; and,
wHEREAS, the Metropolitan Council, MnDOT and six communities
adjacent to Highway 7 (Minnetonka, Shorewood, Excelsior,
Deephaven, Greewood, and Chanhassen) recognize the need to
improve the operation of Highway 7 as a regional road while
accommodating the growth planned by the communities within the
corridor; and,
WHEREAS, a study design defining study alternates and costs
for a corridor study for Highway 7 between Highway 101 and
Minnetonka and the western border of Chanhassen has been pre-
pared, reviewed and approved by the Highway 7 Corridor Study
Committee; and,
e
WHEREAS, the total study cost will be $50,000 and the
Metropolitan Council and MnDOT have agreed to contribute $25,000
if the six corridor communities share in the remaining $25,000;
and
WHEREAS, the corridor communities asked that their share of
the study cost be prorated based on their contribution of future
traffic to Highway 7;
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Chanhassen
contribute $5,000 to the Highway 7 Corridor Study.
Passed and adopted by the Chanhassen City Council this
4th day of November, 1985.
