City of Chanhassen Carver and Hennepin Counties, Minnesota DATE: May 20. 1991 MOTION BY: Dimler RESOLUTION NO: 91-44 SECONDED BY: Workman A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING CONTINUED FEDERAL FUNDING FOR THE NEW U.S. HIGHWAY 212 PROJECT WHEREAS, the city of Chanhassen is an active member of the Southwest Corridor Transportation Coalition; and WHEREAS, the Southwest Corridor Transportation Coalition supports the development of the area's transportation system; and WHEREAS, the Coalition has worked closely with local government, the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) and the Congress to fund highway studies and expedite construction projects; and WHEREAS, the Congress, with the strong support of Minnesota delegation, has appropriated $1.7 million for the U.S. Highway 212 which will provide a modern highway that links metropolitan area with southwestern Minnesota; and the new the WHEREAS, it is estimated that at least $2 million will be required to design the next segment of the proposed highway (between LYman Boulevard in Chanhassen and Trunk Highway 41 in Chaska); and WHEREAS, the latter segment is important to the efficient operation of new U.S. Highway 212 as a bypass for thru farm-to- market traffic past Chaska, Chanhassen and Eden Prairie, Minnesota. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Chanhassen strongly supports the continued federal funding for new U.S. Highway 212, including at least $2 million for FY 1991/92 and will support the efforts of the Minnesota delegation to obtain continued funding.
