Monthly City Council update
Fire Department Overview:
The number of calls as of February 14 was 75 which is the same as the 2007. There was one structure
fire since our last council update. We utilized mutual aid from Eden Prairie, Excelsior, Chaska, and
Victoria Fire Departments. Many firefighters were used during the fire due to the -7 degree temperature.
Training: This month's Fire Fighters training included Right to Know, air pack, and medical training.
Fire Marshal:
Fire Prevention: Nothing new to report on
Fire Inspection's New Construction: The following are all new projects at various stages of
construction: Chanhassen High School, Dell Professional Building, Lifetime Fitness Corporate Office,
MAMAC Industries, Autobahn Motorplex, Power System (Expansion), Southwest Village Ramp,
Jimmy John's (which is soon to break ground this spring). There are no problems to report on regards to
fire code issues.
Fire Inspection, Existing Buildings: The following places are under inspection: TCF Bank, Edina
Reality Strip Mall, Northcott Office Building, Eckancar Church and Office, Gold Medal Sports (in the
strip Mall), Jehovah Witness Church, Cheers liquors (in the strip Mall), Cameo Dry Cleaners (in the
strip mall). Also Ed Coppersmith is finishing a number of existing buildings for the month on January.
The goal for 2008 is to visit every commercial building in the city.

Fire Investigations: We have 2 fires currently under investigation. There was a house fire at 740
Canterbury Circle on Sunday, Feb. 10 at 5:56 p.m. which sustained major damage. There also was a
laundry room fire on Wednesday, February 13 at 1 :16a.m. Currently both fires are under investigation
and neither ofthe fires appears to be suspicious at this time. We will have more information at the next
council meeting.
