88-12 CITY OF CHANHASSEN CARVER AND HENNEPIN COUNTIES, MINNESOTA e DATE: February 8, 1988 RESOLUTION NO: 88-12 MOTION BY: Horn SECONDED BY: Hamilton A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING EXPENDITURES FROM TAX INCREMENT DISTRICT #2 WHEREAS, the City of Chanhassen has been a member of the Southwest Corridor Coalition to improve Trunk Highway 5 since its inception; and WHEREAS, traffic counts on Trunk Highway 5 exceed the traffic levels for a two lane facility; and WHEREAS, the accident severity rates are high on Trunk Highway 5; and WHEREAS, the Southwest Corridor is one of the fastest growing sectors of the metropolitan areas. WHEREAS, Trunk Highway 5 serves as a vital entryway into Chanhassen for its residential, commercial and industrial develop- ment; and -- WHEREAS, Trunk Highway 5 provides important access for out state areas; and WHEREAS, the City of Chanhassen created Tax Increment District #2 and an Economic Development District to assist in road improvements to improve the level of service of Trunk Highway 5; WHEREAS, the Minnesota Department of Transportation needs to complete preliminary design work on Trunk Highway 5 in order to complete the four lane improvement into Chanhassen. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City of Chanhassen authorizes the expenditure of $25,000 in 1988 and 1989 from Tax Increment District #2 to contribute to the completion of the pre- liminary design work of Trunk Highway 5.
