87-11 CITY OF CHANHASSEN CARVER AND HENNEPIN COUNTIES, MINNESOTA e RESOLUTION DATE: February 23, 1987 RESOLUTION NO: 87-11 MOTION BY: Hamilton SECONDED BY: Horn A RESOLUTION PROCLAIMING VOLUNTEERS OF AMERICA WEEK WHEREAS, Volunteer and volunteer organizations have played a unique and irreplaceable role in the growth and development of our state and our community, by identifying and defining needs, by pro- viding services to meet those needs, by advocating on behalf of those unable to speak for themselves, and by advising and directing both private and public organizations and agencies; and WHEREAS, Volunteerism, as a central partner with government and business, is a growing force that is continually contributing to the well being of our State; and WHEREAS, Many of today's complex challenges can be met by increased involvement of the individual citizens, who as volunteers with a wealth of diverse backgrounds, would bring, along with their deep sense of caring, new and fresh ideas for solving problems; and e WHEREAS, Our community has benefitted as more and more citizens bestow the priceless gift that comes only when people give of themselves; and WHEREAS, Recognition should be given to individual volunteers for their contributions to the health, education, welfare, recreation, environmental, and cultural services to the benefit of their fellow citizens and their communities. NOW, THEREFORE, I, Thomas L. Hamilton, Mayor of the City of Chanhassen, commend and thank the dedicated citizens of our com- munity who gave so freely of their valuable time, talent and energies by declaring the week of March 8-14, 1987 to be VOLUNTEERS OF AMERICA WEEK in Chanhassen, Minnesota, and I call on all our citizens to help to renew and sustain the spirit and vitality of our great community by committing a portion of time to voluntary action.
