DATE: July 28, 2008 SUBJ: Approve Electrical Panel Quotes for Annual Sanitary Lift Station Rehabilitation Program - PW055 PROPOSED MOTION "Approve quotes for electrical panel improvements in the amount of $89,034.00 to Quality Flow Systems, Inc." City Council approval requires a simple majority vote of the City Council present. BACKGROUND Annually, the City has considered replacement of equipment for lift stations that are old, unreliable or cannot be properly maintained anymore. These replacements are designed to make the sanitary lift station network more reliable and reduce the likelihood of emergency calls and the potential for sewer backups. ' Currently, the City maintains 31 lift stations in the system. The repairs for the lift station were generally identified in the 2008 sanitary sewer comprehensive plan and have recently been refined based on current problems in the system. DISCUSSION This year staff is requesting electrical panels be replaced at Lift Stations 4, 5, 6, 8 and 14. Lift Station 4 is located on the north side of Lake Minnewashta on Washta Bay Road. This lift station was put in service in 1972 and is the original panel. Lift Station 5 is located next to Christmas Lake off of Holly Lane. The station was put in service in 1972 and is the original panel. Lift Station 6 was put in service in 1972. The station is located next to Minnewashta Parkway. The electrical panel is the original panel installed in 1972. Lift Station 8 was put in service in 1971. This lift station is located on the north side of Lake Minnewashta by Cypress Drive. The panel, was replaced in 1982 however staff is recommending replacement of this 26 year old component because of the recent electrical problems the station has been having. Lift Station 14 was put in service in 1977. This station is located on the north side of Lotus Lake. The panel is the Chanhassen is a Community for Life - Providing for Today and Planning for Tomorrow Todd Gerhardt Annual Lift Station Rehabilitation July 28, 2008 Page 2 original vintage "add-a-phase" station.
