87-69 e e e CITY OF CHANHASSEN CARVER AND HENNEPIN COUNTIES, MINNESOTA DATE: July 20, 1987 87-69 RESOLUTION NO: MOTION BY: Geving Boyt SECONDED BY: A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE 1987 UNITED WAY CAMPAIGN WHEREAS, the United Way of the Minneapolis area currently provides funding to more than 350 programs in 108 agencies, many located in and serving suburban communities. For example, in the Chanhassen area, agencies such as Carver County Community Social Services and the Scott-Carver Economic Council provide programs ranging from adult day care services to an emergency food shelf; and WHEREAS, the efforts of thousands of community volunteers enable the United Way to maintain fundraising and administrative costs under nine cents to a dollar; and WHEREAS, in 1987, funds are being distributed to quality programs that reach more people in suburban communities. The United Way works with county planning boards and private planning groups to identify gaps in services in a continuing effort to meet the comprehensive needs of people in the six county service area. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and City Council of Chanhassen hereby support United Way's community cam- paigns during the week of August 12, 1987, in the City of Chanhassen, and encourage local businesses and their employees to participate in this event.
