TO:
Todd Gerhardt, City Manager
FROM:

Susan Bill, Senior Center Coordinator
.O~
DATE:
October 13,2008
SUBJ:
Accept Donations to the Senior Center
PROPOSED MOTION
"The City Council accepts the following donations to the Chanhassen
Senior Center:
. $600 from Community Bank Chanhassen for the 2009 Senior Center
Holiday Party;
. $960 from KleinBank Chanhassen for the Senior Center 2009
Augsburg College-Lifelong Learning Programs; and
. an upright piano valued at $500 from Marion Stultz;
and that staff is directed to send letters of thanks to the donors."
Approval of these items requires a simple majority vote of those City Council
members present.
BACKGROUND
Community Bank Donation: This is the fourth year that Community Bank
Chanhassen has co-sponsored the SeniorCenter's Holiday Party. This event is the
best attended event of the year. Community Bank's donation helps to offset food
and entertainment costs, making the party reasonably priced and hopefully
affordable for all who want to attend.
KleinBank Chanhassen: This is the third year that KleinBank Chanhassen has
sponsored the Lifelong Learning Program through Augsburg College. This has
been a good relationship and KleinBank has stated several times that they are
pleased to be associated with the Senior Center and to host these presentations for
community seniors.

Piano Donation: The piano is being donated by Marion Stultz. Marion is one of
the original participants of the Senior Center and has remained involved for the
past 17 years. Marion was instrumental in the formation of the CHAN-o-laries
Chorus.
