Renaming of Ball Fields North of City HaH
On May 12, 2003, thc City Council officially named thc new park in front of City
Hall, City Center Park. This action requires that the park and school areas north
of City Hall be renamed. Thc ownership lines separating School District 112
property from City properties are depicted on the attached diagram.
The most northern City parcel acquired in 1998 must carry the name "Hansen" in
its tide as mandated by thc purchase agreement between thc City and Doug and
Bev Hanson. Three ball fields have been developed on this property. It is
reco~cn~ that this park site be named "Hansen Holds."
Thc centraJ property, owned by School District 112, has been called City Center
Park for many years. To avoid confusion in the future, it is recommended that this
property be renamed "Chanhassen Elementary Fields."
The southerly property which includes the City Hall, Library, Skate Park and
Skating Facilities, wffi be known has City Center Park.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Council confirm the renaming of thc two
park/school properties north of City to "Hanson Fields" and "Chanha~
Elementary Fields."
