The city had originally budgeted for a 5% contingency fund ($250,000), and now it is anticipated that we will need an additional $183,941.55 for a variety of issues (total changes = $433,941.55). The overruns were primarily due to unanticipated poor soils on the site that were not detected in the soils tests. The amount of rain we received this past summer also contributed to our increase in soil correction work. We had originally budgeted $70,000 for soil corrections, but incurred an additional $260,000 in weather and soil related issues. The good news is that we received favorable bids that saved the city $335,000. The original estimate for construction was $5,200,000 and Kraus Anderson's bid came in at $4,865,000 a savings of $335,000. As of today, we are under budget by approximately $58,000. Mr. Petit will be at Monday night's meeting to present the proposed changes and possible deducts.. ATTACHMENTS 1. Spreadsheet on the Chanhassen Library Project.
