SUBJ: Sanitary Lift Station #9 Rehabilitation: Approve Quote PROPOSED MOTION "The City Council approves a quote in the amount of $41,106.00 to Quality Flow Systems, Inc. for controls, pumps, and piping replacement at Lift Station #9." City Council approval requires a simple majority vote of the City Council present. BACKGROUND Annually, the City considers replacement of equipment for lift stations that are worn, unreliable, and impractical to maintain. These replacements are a pro- active approach designed to make Chanhassen's core collection system more reliable and less likely to cause costly emergency repairs and potential sewer backups. The Utility Department currently maintains 31 lift stations inthe wastewater collections system. Lift Station #9 has been identified as the next lift station needing rehabilitation. DISCUSSION Lift Station #9 is located at 6601 Lotus Trail in Carver Beach. The station's close proximity to Lotus Lake makes it fundamental that the station be maintained so as to reduce the likelihood of any wastewater release into the lake. The station has two 20 hp. pumps, one pump being 12 years old and the other over 30 years old. Most of the interior piping is original and heavily corroded. The insulation and check valves should be replaced. The new controls will allow the level of the wet well to be transmitted and data logged into the City's SCADA system. This is helpful in diagnosing potential mechanical, as well as, inflow and infiltration problems. Staff has received four quotes for the pumps and piping and two quotes for the controls. All quotes include installation. The quotes for this work are as follows: The City ot Chanhassen . A growing community with clean lakes, quality schools, a charming downtown, thriving businesses, winding trails, and beautiful parks. A great place to live, work, and play.
