Following is a summary of the Planning Staff's work plan that involves the input of the Planning Commission: 1. Semi-annual: Spring and fall work sessions (training, tours and project reviews). The Planning Commission recently toured the Powers Crossing Professional Center/Erhart property. 2. Develop zoning categories to implement the comprehensive plan, specifically Community Commercial (CC) and Lifestyle or Regional Commercial (RC) Districts. Receive input on the new zonings. This should be completed in the summer of 2009. The use of the zoning and any rezoning hearings and conversion of properties, however, is subject to market conditions. 3. Discuss code amendments through a series of work sessions. Staff drafted issue papers on farm animals, signage and street lighting. Will hold public hearings soon on Chapter 18, Subdivisions, and Chapter 20, Zoning. 4. Staff will hold meetings with downtown businesses regarding Community Commercial (CC) zoning and the potential expansion of the Central Business District. These meetings provide the downtown community the opportunity to participate in the potential expansion of the downtown. This could lead to public hearings rezoning property from General Business District, BG, to Central Business District, CBD. 5.
