Accept Donation of Chanhassen Veterans Monument from
Chanhassen American Legion Post 580
PROPOSED MOTION:
"The City Council moves to accept the donation of the Chanhassen Veterans
Monument from Chanhassen American Legion Post 580."
Approval of this item requires a super majority vote of the City Council.
BACKGROUND
The Chanhassen American Legion has constructed the Chanhassen Veterans
Monument in City Center Park. At the Monday, May 25th dedication ceremony,
the monument will be dedicated to the City of Chanhassen. The monument was
built within City Center Park on land owned by the City.
By accepting the donation, the City will also assume future responsibility for the
ongoing maintenance of the monument, not including future capital maintenance.
RECCOMENDA TION
Staff recommends approval of this item.

A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE ACCEPTANCE OF THE DONATION
OF THE CHANHASSEN VETERANS MONUMENT
FROM CHANHASSEN AMERICAN LEGION POST 580
WHEREAS, the Chanhassen American Legion Post 580 desires to donate the Veterans
Monument to the City of Chanhassen,
WHEREAS, the Monument is located within a public park, City Center Park,
WHEREAS, the City intends to perform routine maintenance of the Monument,
WHEREAS; the value of the Monument is greater than $500.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Chanhassen City Council hereby
approves acceptance of the donation of the Veterans Monument from the Chanhassen American
Legion Post 580.
Passed and adopted by the Chanhassen City Council this 26TH day of May, 2009.
