Incident Synopsis:
Deputies responded to a call of a 14 year old suicidal female holding a knife to her throat.
Deputy Kittelson spoke to the girl for three hours in attempt to gain her trust and
convince her to put the knife down. During this time Deputy Kittelson was in the girls
bedroom with her, placing himself on her level. The girl could have attempted an attack
on Deputy Kittelson at any time. With a sincere manner he skillfully got the girl to talk
about other topics and finally convinced her to put the knife down and go to the hospital.

Employee: Kyle Perlich
ICR #: 02-26191
Performance Incident: Call of vandalism
Date: 10/17/02 Time' 2206' Recommended by: Sgt. David Pot-ts
Incident Synopsis:
Deputy Perlich responded to a call of kids throwing rocks at cars along Kerber Blvd,
Chanhassen. At least one car had been struck and damaged. Deputy Perlich found no
suspects in the area. However, as I have noticed in his past work, Deputy Perlich took
further steps in attempts to locate suspects. He noted footprints and landscape rocks at
a nearby home and spoke to kids there. They denied any involvement. Deputy Perlich
was suspicious and continued his efforts. He contacted a parent as they arrived home
and was successful in gaining the cooperation of the parent. With continued, skilfui
questioning, the kids' story came apart and they ultimately admitted involvement, in
further follow-up, contacting other juvenile suspects, Deputy Perlich once again ran into
denials. His persistence and skill led to the truth about who was and was not involved.
The three juveniles were referred to Family Group Conferencing. Restitution is expected.
