SUBJ:
TH 212, Project No. 03-09: Approve MnDOT Traffic Signal
Agreement
PROPOSED MOTION
"The City Council approves Traffic Signal Agreement No. 87681M with
MnDOT."
City Council approval requires a simple majority vote of the City Council
present.
DISCUSSION
This signal agreement is for the signals on TH 101 from TH 5 to the south loop of
TH 212. In conjunction with the tumback ofTH 101 to the County, the
agreements for the signals along the corridor need to be updated. The County and
MnDOT policies have the local jurisdiction pay for the power to operate the
signal and lights at the intersection and maintenance for the lights. The City
would participate in the major maintenance or replacement of the signal in the
future depending on the signal. The attached agreements provide operations,
maintenance and electrical power for the traffic control signals, street lights, and
emergency vehicle pre-emption.
The agreements have been reviewed and are consistent with the current cost
participation policies. The City attorney has also reviewed the agreement.
