EDA 2010 05 10 CHANHASSEN ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY SPECIAL MEETING MAY 10, 2010 Chairman Furlong called the meeting to order at 7:10 p.m. MEMBERS PRESENT: Tom Furlong, Bethany Tjornhom, Bryan Litsey and Vicki Ernst MEMBERS ABSENT: Jerry McDonald STAFF PRESENT: Todd Gerhardt, Laurie Hokkanen, Kate Aanenson, Paul Oehme, Todd Hoffman and Roger Knutson PUBLIC HEARING TO CONSIDER TRANSFER OF PROPERTY TO THE CITY OF CHANHASSEN (MEDICAL ARTS PARKING LOTS). th Hokkanen: The City is the owner of some public parking lots that are located between West 78 and Great Plains Boulevard. I put up the map on the overhead that you have in your packet. These are near Axel’s and the Medical Arts buildings. The City is currently considering a project to reconstruct these parking lots and that would be in conjunction with our assessment practice and the neighboring property owners that generally use that parking will be involved. Any time we come across property that’s currently in the name of the EDA we have typically taken that chance to transfer that into the City ownership. Just keeps it a little bit cleaner. If we were to try to go forward with the reconstruction, having to notify the EDA that the City is planning something, it just doesn’t make sense in terms of using our time and resources. And whether the project goes forward or not we’ve been trying to move property that’s own in either the HRA or the EDA’s name into city ownership so this would make sense regardless. There’s no cost to the City other than the State deed tax of $1.65. A public hearing is required to allow the public to comment on the terms and the amount if they so wish. Furlong: Okay, very good. Thank you. Any questions for staff at this time? If not then I would open the public hearing and invite all interested parties to come forward and address the EDA on this matter. Okay. Seeing no one, without objection then we’ll close the public hearing and bring it back to the Economic Development Authority for discussion and a motion. Any discussion on this? Seems pretty straight forward and something we’ve been doing. Would somebody like to make a motion regarding the attached resolution? Tjornhom: I’ll make the motion Mayor that the EDA adopts the resolution for the sale of the property. Furlong: Thank you. Is there a second? Ernst: Second. Furlong: Made and seconded. Any discussion on the motion? Economic Development Authority - May 10, 2010 Resolution #2010-05:Tjornhom moved, Ernst seconded to approve the Resolution approving the Sale of the Property as attached. All voted in favor and the motion carried unanimously with a vote of 4 to 0. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Litsey moved, Ernst seconded to approve the Minutes of the Economic Development Authority meeting dated April 12, 2010 as presented. All voted in favor and the motion carried unanimously with a vote of 4 to 0. Furlong: Is there anything else to come before the EDA this evening? No? Is there a motion to adjourn as the EDA? Ernst moved, Tjornhom seconded to adjourn the Economic Development Authority meeting. All voted in favor and the motion carried unanimously with a vote of 4 to 0. The EDA meeting was adjourned at 7:15 p.m. Submitted by Todd Gerhardt Executive Director Prepared by Nann Opheim 2
