Residential Water Use *
On Water Wise
• In 2008 and 2009, water use of participants
was tracked. In 2008, when incentives were
used participant consumption dropped. In
2009, with education only, participant
consumption trended upward.
• Education is necessary, but does not elicit
behavior change without ether components.

• Highest users are not taking advantage of the
program.
• Residents who participate are eager for
information.
• Program should be continued and
recommended to include commercial and
institutional users as well as increased program
promotion to higher users.
• Focus of program should be on irrigation and
include general conservation recommendations
for indoor use as well.

• 3 new wells constructed to replace 2 lost wells and one
diminished well.
• Increased water quality of system with the addition of
Well #4 water treated at the plant.
• Plant capacity near 100% design capacity.
• Lowered all well pumps into qualifier as much as
possible.
• Not much additional system production added since
2007.
• City almost completely dependent on Jordan aquifer.

• Warnings were only issued in 2009.

• Evaluate Water Rate Structure for 2011.
Consider additional rates structure for high
irrigation. These users drive the need for more
infrastructure, production and maintenance
cost.
• Study the Franconia - Ironton - Galesville aquifer
as a viable future water source.
• Recommend adoptions of Time of Day Lawn
Watering ordinances.
