10a. Senior Center Congregate Dining.CITY OF CHANHASSEN 690 COULTER DRIVE • P.O. BOX 147 • CHANHASSEN, MINNESOTA 55317 (612) 937 -1900 • FAX (612) 937 -5739 MEMORANDUM TO: Don Ashworth, City Manager FROM: Kate Aanenson, Planning Director DATE: January 17, 1997 SUBJ: Congregate Dining Update The purpose of this memorandum is to bring the City Council up to date on the progress of the senior dining kitchen. The City Council allocated 1995 -96 and 1996 -1997 CDBG funds for senior dining. Staff has been working on the bid preparation for the kitchen area. Attached is the proposed design of the kitchen space and bid package. The only item remaining on the bid package is the final design work for the HVAC. Staff has worked closely with the CAP agency and Hennepin County to ensure that the design meets all standards and that the bid package meets the all Federal requirements. The tentative plans are to bid the project by the end of March. Attached you will see the estimate is over the $100,000 allocated budget. I hope the city will be able to find a way to meet the funding gap. The mechanical expense is well in excess of what was expected. This is due to the air conditioning that is necessary for the kitchen as well as the entire lower level. Staff had asked Amcon to prepare an estimate to finish the rest of the lower level of the building. Originally, it was estimated that not all of the block grant dollars would be used and some dollars could be used to finish this additional space. (This use would have to relate to the senior use/dining). Based on the bid estimate, additional finished space has been eliminated. . gAplan\ka\senior dining.cc.doc Chanhassen City Hall Senior Kitchen Item M1 /17/97 O12:37PM D2/2 1/17/97 PRELIMINARY COST ESTIMATE Kitchen 528 7,556 2,640 0 0 3,508 1,100 1,000 9,039 300 35,829 0 33,125 10,595 $104,692 2,500, 3,800 6,000 1,000 $117,992 $223.47 Dining Area 2,697 2,425 0 0 1,200 0 1,100 12,121 250 0 0 10,620 6,840 $34,556 0 INCL 1,000 1,000 $36,556 $13.55 Restrooms KI. 3,275 1,071 0 0 1,400 0 1,250 9,186 2,500 0 0 15,504 1,590 $35,776 0 1,000 1,000 1,000 $3.8,776 $126.72 Area (SF) DIVISION 1 General Conditions 3 Concrete 4 Masonry 5 Metals 6 Wood,Carp., Lumber,Millwork 7 Roofing, Insulation 8 Doors, Windows 9 Finishes 10 Specialties 11 Equipment 13 Pool Construction 15 Mechanical 16 Electrical Sub-Total Cost Estimate Kitchen Design Fee Mechanical Engineering CM Fee Architect Fee Total Cost Estimate Cost per SF Kitchen 528 7,556 2,640 0 0 3,508 1,100 1,000 9,039 300 35,829 0 33,125 10,595 $104,692 2,500, 3,800 6,000 1,000 $117,992 $223.47 Dining Area 2,697 2,425 0 0 1,200 0 1,100 12,121 250 0 0 10,620 6,840 $34,556 0 INCL 1,000 1,000 $36,556 $13.55 Restrooms KI. 3,275 1,071 0 0 1,400 0 1,250 9,186 2,500 0 0 15,504 1,590 $35,776 0 1,000 1,000 1,000 $3.8,776 $126.72 01/17/97 09:51 LANDMARK DESIGN 4 612 9255781 N0.838 P002/006 A.
