RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE REAPPOINTMENT OF CRAIG PETERSON TO THE
METROPOLITAN COUNCIL BOARD, DISTRICT 4
WHEREAS, the City of Chanhassen strongly supports the reappointment of Craig Peterson to the
Metropolitan Council Board; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Peterson has been actively serving District 4 since December 2007, which includes
all of Carver and Scott Counties, except the City of New Prague, and the Hennepin County cities of
Minnetrista and St. Bonifacius; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Peterson has a wealth of knowledge based on his expenences and long, active role in
local politics, such as serving on the following councils, commissions, and boards:
• Metropolitan Council Member, District 4, December 2007 to Present
• Metropolitan Council's Environmental Management Committee, December 2007 to present
• Chanhassen City Council, 2000 to 2007
• Chanhassen Economic Development Authonty, 2000 to 2007
• SouthWest Transit Commission (including tenure as Chair), 2002 -2007
• Member of the Metropolitan Council Transportation Advisory Board, 2005 -2007
• Chanhassen Planning Commission (four years as Chair), 1995 -2000; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Peterson also chairs the Board of Directors of Wilderness Inquiry, a non - profit
organization dedicated to make adventure travel accessible to everyone; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Peterson is active in general aviation and is an instrument -rated pilot; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Peterson has earned his Master's degree in business administration from Mankato
State University, and his Bachelor of Arts degree in business administration from Southwest State
University in Marshall, Minnesota.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Chanhassen City Council strongly supports the
reappointment of Craig Peterson as the Metropolitan Council District 4 representative as he has provided the
highest level of service over the past three years; and his diverse career in regional and local government
service makes him an excellent candidate to continue to serve the people of District 4.
