TRUNK HIGHWAY 7 IMPROVEMENT PROJECT
The Minnesota Department of Transportation is currently preparing plans for an improvement
project to Trunk Highway 7 beginning at Trunk Highway 41 in Chanhassen and extending eight
miles west. The project consists mainly of providing safety improvements to the roadway which
include shoulder paving and turn lane channelization at key intersection locations along the
corridor. These improvements are scheduled to be constructed in the year 2000, however, it is
MnDOT's intent to design and final the plans for the improvement project by the end of this year
so that right -of -way acquisition and other preconstruction administrative details can be
accomplished prior to scheduled construction.
As a part of the overall proposed improvements to Trunk Highway 7, three road intersections in
Chanhassen are proposed to be closed. These intersections are Leslee Curve, Cypress Drive, and
Washta Bay Road. MnDOT will be notifying affected residents along the road corridor through
the local newspaper and individual mailings of an informational public hearing on the project to be
held sometime in September.
If residents have any questions or concerns regarding this proposed improvement project, you are
asked to call the MnDOT representative, Mr. Paul Kachelmyer, at 582 -1298.
Public Works Director Comment I ,
Mr. Kachelmyer of MnDOT is scheduled to make a brief presentation at the beginning of the City
