SUBJ: Key Financial Strategies
PROPOSED MOTION
The City Council adopts the 2011 Key Financial Strategies /Strategic Plan.
A simple majority vote is required to approve this item.
BACKGROUND
Attached please find the 2011 Key Financial Strategies /Strategic Plan. The
City Council met on January 8, 2011 to brainstorm ideas for 2011 goals,
individually ranked those goals, and then discussed a final Strategic Plan on
January 24. The results of that process are attached. Items that were not
identified as 2011 goals may be reconsidered in 2012.
Following adoption, staff will proceed with the research and planning
necessary to consider or implement each item.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the City Council adopt the 2011 Key Financial
Strategies /Strategic Plan.

• Review Hook -up charges for Irrigation Accounts
• Conduct Comparison of Costs of Development (building permit fees, development fees)
• Develop a list of Budget - cutting Ideas, Policies, and Service Levels to examine
Planning for the City's Infrastructure
Create solutions for managing existing infrastructure and future growth in our community; while
preserving a sustainable quality of life and protecting the environment.
• Discuss long -term Tennis Court Maintenance plan
• Revisit Fire Station #3 Justification Stud, including Staffing Plan
• Consider Expansion of City Cemetery
• Examine Impervious Surface Requirements /Review Standards
Enhance Local Tax Base
Evaluate the Comprehensive Plan with current goals and policies; assess the impact.
• Discuss County Fiber Ring Project, Related City Initiatives, Potential, for Business
Opportunities, and understand the related costs/benefits to Chanhassen taxpayers.
• Identify Opportunities and Barriers to Development
• Develop a Public- Private Partnership to Create Jobs and Enhance the Tax Base
