MEMORANDUM
TO:
FROM:
Todd Gerhardt, City Manager
Todd Hoffman, Park and Recreation Director
¢/
DATE: August "7, 2002
SUBJECT:
Request for Information, Chanhassen Community Center
In response to a City Council directive, the attached "request for information"
and cover letter was mailed to twenty-two separate organizations and
businesses on July 10, 2002. A copy of a spreadsheet identifying the
recipients is also attached. As indicated on the spreadsheet, ten responses
were received. The responders who noted an interest in the project can
generally be grouped into the following categories; for profit fitness clubs (4);
non-profit fitness club (1); an independent school district (1); and health
service providers (2). The remaining two responders simply wanted to note
their support for such a project.
All of the respondents with an interest in discussing a potential partnership
with the City are highly motivated to engage in conversation with the Council.
A sampling of development agreements and land leases will be distributed
Monday evening. It has been our finding that a "boiler plate" agreement does
not exist for the construction of these types of facilities. Each community has
generally assembled a unique arrangement based upon their own needs and
wants. One common theme, however, has emerged, the need for a good
location.
Staff stands prepared to assist the Council in any way we can.

southwest metropolitan marketplace and is proving to be an attractive location to
conduct business.
