Chanhassen City Council Minutes —July 21, 1997
A special meeting of the Chanhassen City Council was called to order at 6:15 p.m. on Monday,
July 21, 1997, in the Courtyard Conference Room at City Hall. The following members were
present: Acting Mayor Mason, Councilmen Berquist, Engel, and Senn. Mayor Mancino was
absent. Staff present: Todd Gerhardt, Assistant City Manager.
Local Planning Assistance Grant: The Metropolitan Council has been authorized by the State
Legislature to provide local planning assistance grants and loans to local governments to assist in
implementing the Metropolitan Land Planning Act. Part of the Act requires local governments to
update their comprehensive plans by December 1998. The local planning assistance grant can
fund a maximum of 75% of the total costs of the work program with a maximum grant amount of
approximately $20,000.
The city has begun the process of reviewing and updating its comprehensive plan. Staff has
previously prepared a proposed schedule for revising the comprehensive plan. As part of the
grant application, staff has attempted to quantify potential costs of this program.
Resolution No. 97 -53: A motion was made by Councilman Berquist and seconded by
Councilman Senn to approve Resolution No. 97 -53 entitled, "A Resolution Authorizing an
Application for Local Planning Assistance Grant to the Metropolitan Council." All voted in favor
and the motion carried.
A motion was made by Councilman Engel and seconded by Councilman Berquist to adjourn the
special meeting at 6:30 p.m. All voted in favor and the motion carried.
