SUBJ: Approve Resolution Changing Polling Places for Certain Precincts
The city council previously received a notice from the Carver County Auditor's Office of his
desire to see various polling places within the city changed. I am sure that I had put a
memorandum with that stating that although Mr. Lundgren is officially responsible for setting the
polling places, that the change in actuality had been stimulated by the city.
The west fire station and the senior center have several things in common. Both are too small to
serve as polling pla es and both have inadequate and remote parking problems. [Note: The
senior center will also be affected by the overcrowded parking conditions associated with the city
hall expansion as well as construction traffic.] Chanhassen Elementary has been a nightmare for
as many years as I can recall. Inclement weather places significant pressure on the school to
ensure that the kids can use the gym space. However, placing the judges in the hallway makes
their lives and the voters' lives intolerable.
Approval of the attached resolution is recommended. The city council can anticipate setting
election judge's salaries and approving the list of election judges at one of our next meetings.
