1 opened my mail yesterday and was pleased to read that "Pillsbury's dedication and commitment to the
community is a true indication of your role as a great business citizen." (a letter from the Chanhassen recreation
department). However, I was disappointed to hear that the city is getting complaints from the community regarding
trucks waiting on Audubon Road prior to loading at our plant.
In order to set the record straight, I would like to say that Pillsbury has been reviewing
the problems associated with trucks on Audubon Road for about ten months now. There is no doubt that the
situation has improved over the conditions experienced last summer and fall.
We have taken the following steps:
* Invested millions of dollars to improve service and quality to our customers by
handling our truck traffic faster through expanded shipping docks.
* Installed new software to speed up the handling of orders and shipments.
* Reviewed improvement plans and strategies to ease some of the congestion on
Audubon by getting trucks off the road in a timely fashion.
* Hired a warehouse /shipping consultant (on board - July 8) to study our new
expanded operations.
Some of our plans and timelines have been slowed by construction delays. While we had hoped to have
the expansion project complete by June 1, the completion date has slipped to July 13.
Pillsbury has continued to be a responsible corporate citizen and community leader. As this area develops,
I hope the city council continues to be sensitive and supportive to the needs of its industrial and private residents.
As always, I pledge to continue to work with city leadership and concerned private residents towards solutions to
any and all issues.
Sincerely,
Ric Moore
