You'll note that the new Precinct 7 has a population of 2,889, which does not include the new Pulte Development. The Planning Department has estimated another 650 people will reside in this area over the next two years, bringing the population of that precinct to 3,539. Although thismay sound high, at the time of our last election in 2000, the population in Precinct 5 was 4,699 and Precinct 6 was 3,954. Both of these precincts voted at the Chanhassen Recreation. Center and the facility easily handled this population. Option 3 also distributes the growth areas fairly evenly.- Since the Council was meeting Monday night anyway, we thought it would be a good opportunity to present this option so that it could get into the paper next Thursday. Staff recommends that the City Council move forward with Option 3 rather than Option 2-2 as presented last Monday night.
