SUBJ: Accept Donation of $300 from Former Landfill Opposition Committee,
Al Klingelhutz
Mr. Al Klingelhutz, 8600 Great Plains Boulevard, approached me to donate $300 from the
former Landfill Opposition Fund. This money had been held in the Chanhassen Bank in a non-
interest bearing account (to avoid taxable status). Recently, Mr. Klingelhutz, representing the
former Landfill Opposition Group, withdrew this money: in the City of Chanhassen's name.
The single string attached to the check is that it be invested in a project at Lake Susan Park (the
area of the city where the donations originated). Several projects are being considered, including
a one time fish stocking or a park bench along the lake trail. Initial response from the
Department of Natural Resources is that $300 will fall short in financing a stocking effort.
Recommendation
It is recommended that the city council accept the $300 donation from Al Klingelhutz on behalf
of the former Landfill Opposition Committee and that a letter of thanks be sent to him.
