Presentation of Park & Recreation Commission Awardsate•'"""""'' MAPLE LEAF AWARD PRESENTED ON APRIL 11, 2011 O Glenn Stolar served as a Park and Recreation Commission member from 2002 to 2011 and served as the Chair from 2004 to 2008. Glenn is a special individual who gave freely of his time and talents in order to make Chanhassen a better place. When volunteers were needed, he always raised his hand. During meetings, Glenn made guests feel welcome and carefully listened to the viewpoints of citizens prior to forming recommendations. Serving as Chair for five years, Mr. Stolar sought balanced testimony from all sides and ensured that every voice was represented and heard. Difficult decisions were delivered with respect and understanding. Glenn was the kind of commissioner that drove home from family vacations in order to attend scheduled meetings — he attained a 92% attendance record over nine years. Glenn volunteered many hours helping to install play equipment at neighborhood parks. Community special events were a favorite for Glenn and he logged hundreds of volunteer hours helping with 4 th of July Celebrations, Feb Fest Celebrations and Halloween Parties. Glenn was a strong advocate for investing in parks and trails and sought to ensure that improvements served all citizens. He was very supportive of new ideas and sought to give constructive feedback whenever asked. The community of Chanhassen is a better place as a result of Glenn's passion for service and his enthusiasm to get things done! gApark \th \commission\stolar departure bio.doc CERTIFICATE OF APPRECIATION SCOTT WENDT, PARK & RECREATION COMMISSIONER Gy,,p Scott Wendt served as a member of the Park & Recreation Commission from 2008 — 2011. Scott was a tremendous asset to the commission and served residents with enthusiasm and pride. He provided insightful comments and recommendations during meetings and was always eager to hear from residents. When Scott joined the commission, he signed up his entire family! They attend nearly all of the community events and programs sponsored by the City. Living in the downtown area, Scott and his family often walk or bicycle to 4 th of July events, concerts in the park, and Arbor Day events. Scott made a special point to join in a community bike ride highlighting future bikeway needs for members of the Metropolitan Council's Transportation Advisory Board. The community of Chanhassen is a better place as a result of Scott's desire to serve and make a difference!
