City Code Update
As a part of the city's budget process the planning division was given funds to
update the City Code. As stated during the budget process the planning division
will coordinate the review and redraft of the code. Municipal Code Corporation
and the City Attorney will oversee the drafts.
Attached is the outline of the planning staff responsible (coordinator) for the
sections and .the staff that will be the resources. This process will take at least
one-year. On February 4, 2002, MuNcipal Code Corporation has provided a
review of the code which was the first step in the process. The next step will be
the review of the Municipal Code comments and the section by section review.
This is not an item that needs formal action from the City Council. Staff wanted
to inform the Council of their intention to involve the input of the community
throughout the process through a series of informal meetings. It is our intention
to receive input from the business community, developers, residents and those
that have a specific interest (boats and waterways, horses, etc.). Staff is looking
for your comments and would like to hear if there is any specific input you would
like to see in the process.
Manager's Comments: I would like to recognize the Community Development
Department for taking the initifitive to review and redraft our City Codes. In
performing this task in-house, the Community Development Department will be
saving the city thousands of dollars. This is a big project and a good example of
our city staff's dedication and commitment.
