OBJECTIVE AND SCOPE
Assists the City Manager in the day-to-day management of the City and lead economic
development initiatives.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Participates with the City Manager in establishing goals, budgets, plans, and activities to
ensure that the desired level of service is provided in the administration of city affairs.
· Direct responsibility in managing goals and budgets for City Hall, Community
Service Officer, and Cable TV Funds.
· Effectively represents administration objectives and viewpoints and supports the
Council/Manager policies.

Coordinates/supervises the work of the Community Service Officer, Crime Prevention
Specialist, Building Manager, and Administrative Intern. Monitors programs and
manages department materials and equipment needs.
3. Serves as Assistant Executive Director of the Chanhassen Economic Development
Authority.
Responsible for taking a proactive approach in developing and leading economic
development and redevelopment initiatives and activities. Work with citizens,
staff, business owners, and prospective developers on a variety of development
activities. Serves as the City's liaison to the business community and represents
the City as a member of the Chamber of Commerce.
· Develop policies that support the City's overall economic development initiatives
and housing goals and objectives.

· Implement, and manage development agreements, plans, and projects.
· Respond to inquiries on available land, building, and development opportunities.
· Manage the existing Tax Increment Financing Districts and ensure that all annual
reports are completed and submitted in a timely manner.
· Monitor legislative initiatives (TIF, grants, affordable housing, etc.).
· Research and make application for different grant programs.
Manages human resources activities.
· Coordinates employee recruitment, selection, and orientation.
Maintains the City's Pay Classification Plan, position descriptions, and evaluation
systems in accordance with state pay equity and related guidelines.
· Researches and makes recommendations for implementing and updating City
personnel policies.
· Ensures that all City departments understand and implement City personnel
policies consistently.
· Administers the City's drug testing policy in accordance with State and Federal
laws.
~,dministers the City's Worker's Compensation and property and liability insurance-
:overage and claims.
Manages the claims to ensure that employees return to work as soon as possible
and that property and liability claims are settled appropriately.
