SUBJ: Donation of Property from Betty O'Shaughnessy
Ms. Betty O'Shaughnessy owns a parcel of propel southwest of Highway 5 and Galpin
Boulevard within the City of Chanhassen. She d like to donate this property (57.515 acres)
to the City of Chanhassen. Ms. O'Shaughnessy, sold the adjoining property to Scenic
Enterprises for the platting of Autumn Ridge l st and 2nd Additions.
Ms. O'Shaughnessy has been working with the city for the past two years on this transaction. Up
until the past 30 days, it was unknown if the efforts of the parties involved would be
consummated. It is now apparent that all of the puzzle pieces necessary to make this deal a "go"
are in place. Here are the simple but sweet details:
1. Ms. O'Shaughnessy is in the "right" financial situation to be able to make the donation.
Betty O'Shaughnessy will be present on Monday evening to officially donate this property to the
Mayor and City Council on behalf of the City of Chanhassen. Upon council approval, the city
attorney will finalize the transaction by the end of the 1995 calendar year.

RECOMMENDATION
It is with much pride and anticipation that I recommend the city council accept the donation of
57.515 acres of real property from Ms. Betty O'Shaughnessy by approving the attached
resolution. Let it be known that to the best of my knowledge, this is the largest benevolent
contribution ever received by the City of Chanhassen in its 99 year history.
Betty is not one for a great deal of pomp and circumstance. A small gift symbolizing the city's
appreciation for her generosity will be presented to her on Monday evening. These type of
occasions do not present themselves very often. We can all cherish in it.

Below please find the suggested meeting schedule for 1996. The only deviation from the regular
second and fourth Monday schedule will be in November. The second Monday of the month
falls on the Veteran's Day holiday and city hall will be closed that day. Since off Mondays are
consumed with budget meetings at this time of the year, I would recommend that the first
meeting in November be changed to Tuesday, November 12. If the council would like to
consider other options, please remove this item from the consent agenda for discussion.
