MINUTES OF THE MAY 27, 1965 COUNCIL MEPTING �Q�
The Chanhassen Village met in regular session on May 27, 1965 at the
Village Hall at 8:P.M. with the following members present: Mg.yor Coulter,
Councilman Tessness, Councilman Pauly and Councilman :'.Hanson, and the
following members absent: Councilman Roeser,
Mayor Coulter opened the meeting with the pledge to the flag. The
minutes of the last meeting were read and on a motion made by Councilman
Pauly and seconded by councilman Tessness the minutes be approved as read,.
Mr. Earl McAllister (Village fire,marshall) has ar°ranged with the
State Fire Marshall to have a Fire Inspection of the Village tomorrow May
28, 1965,
Mayor Coulter asked all Councilman to be thinking about someone to
head a cival defence program and come up with a name at the next meeting:
Francis Klein (Maint, man) reported that all but two manholes have
been found ab'd checked and are in good condition. Mayor Coulter wishes to
have the sewer inspection completed by the next meeting'.
Tomorrow the mayors from Chanhassen, Chaska and Victoria, and the
ChairmAm from Chaska and Chanhassen township will meet in a closed meeting
with the County Attorney at the Court House at Chaska and appoint a County
Commissioner for the 1st...Distriet to replace Mr. Ed Borak who recently
passed away.
WATER REPORT:
Councilman Tessness (Chairman) reported that the forms for advertising
$'or bids in the Construction Bulletin and the Weekly Valley Herald are
ready for publication. Mr Flatebo, Village'Engineer will be dropping these
forms off at the clerks office within the next few days.
Valley Engineering Company of Shakopee, Minnesota Consulting Engineers
then presented detailed plans and specification for construction of water-
works improvement no'. 1965-1°. After such plans were thoroughly examined
and discussed, member Tessness introduced the following resolution and
moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION APPROVING PLANS AND SPECIFICATION AND CALLING FOR
CONSTRUCTION BIDS ON WATERWORKS IMPROVEMENT NO. 1965-1
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF CHANHASSEN, MINN.
as follows:
(1) The detailed plans and specifications heretofore prepared by Valley
Engineering Company for construction of Waterworks Improvement
No,* 1965-1 are hereby approved and ordered fileat.
(2) This Council shall meet on Thursday, June 17, 1965 at 7 o'clock
P.M., at the Village Hall in the Village of Chanhassen, for the
purpose of receiving and considering sealed bids for the construct-
ion of said improvement, and the clerk is hereby authorized and
directed to cause notice of said meeting to be published in the
official newspaper and in the Construction Bulletin, published
at Minneapolis, Minnesota, once at least 10 days prior to the
date of said meeting, which notice shall specify the time and
place of the meeting, the nature of the work, that sealed bids
for said work must be received by the Village Clerk prior to the
time of said meeting, accompanied by a cashier's or certified
check or bid bond im the amount of at least 5% -of the respective
bids, that the Council reserves the right to hold such bids for
a period of 40 days without award and the right to reject any and
all bids without explanation and to waive any informalitiesr.

The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly s
seconded by Councilman Pauly and upon a vote being Laked, the following
members voted in favor thereof: Mayor Coulter, Councilmari:Tessness.4
Councilman Pauly, & Councilman Hanson. No neg votes; whereupon said
resolution was declared passed and adopted.

Councilman Tessness made a motion to cut the sewer service charge to
050400 per quarter for St. Hubert's school retroactive Jan. 1st 1965',
Mayor Coulter seconds that motion. Viewing the prons and cons of said
motion the motion was tabled. On motion made by Mayor Coulter to refer
said motion to the sewage committee until the June 24th meeting. Motion
seconded by councilman Pauly. Mayor Coulter withdraws his motion and"moves
that Adolph motion be tabled. Councilman Pauly seconds that motion. No neg.
votes. Motion carried'.
Mr. Robert Scholler was present, and the council asked him what his in-
tention were on completion of the road in Schol"ler's second addit. called
Saint John's street? He stated he would complete this road before the 1st,
day of fall. Also the council asked Mr. Scholler to complete the road in
Sunrise Hills 2nd. addition, he stated he would take care of it within two
weeks. The council also asked Mr. Scholler to give the Village his profit
and Loss Statement which ordinance #37 calls for. The Council asked him to
have it ready by the last meeting in June.
NO REPORT FROM THE PLANNERS.
NO NEW OR OLD BUSINESS-.
The Board of Equalization meeting is sceduled for Monday June 7 at
7:PM at the Village Hall. Mr. Dietz present at this meeting stated he
was prepared for the meeting on June 7th,
Mayor Coulter stated that he has had many complaints about the old
house in Chanhassen presently owned by Herbert Bloomberg. Mayor Coulter
instructed Francis Klein to contact owner to dispose of said house immed-
iately, because it is a hazard in the Village.
Francis Klein is to check with the township on what they plan to do
with all the trees and rubbish thay have been dumping on Mr. Schollers lot
which is in the Village.
Councilman Hanson informed the Council that he has a building to rent
20X30 sq. feet: the lot is 70X100. Mr. Hanson was wondering if the Village
might want to,rent said building for keeping of Village equipment and truck.
Mayor Coulter instructed each Councilman to check into this building and
look it over, and have and answer by the next council meeting.
On a motion made by councilman Tessness and seconddd by councilman
Hanson the meeting be adjourned.
